Dear Palm Valley Families,
I love this time of year. There is a crispness in the weather and an air of newness on the campus. Fresh from the winter vacation, students are finishing their fall semester and making plans for the spring. Seniors are gathering their college acceptances and making choices about where to attend in the fall. Our younger students are meeting new milestones as the 100th day of school approaches. It's such an incredible feeling to be a part of this community every day. While I have the great privilege of leading this community, the reality is that so often, they lead me! I learn new things from our students and faculty every day. Being in the hallways, workrooms, classrooms, and all over campus - they inspire me, encourage me, and teach me something new every single day. I had the great pleasure of hanging out with some of our student ambassadors this weekend at our January Open House. Watching our Middle School students give tours to prospective families was enlightening and educational. Hearing the student perspective on what aspects of the Middle School they thought were significant and that resonated with their peers was incredibly engaging. Seeing students assume leadership roles so easily is something that always puts me in awe of these incredible kids. I am grateful for their leadership and ideas!
The spring semester is a busy time for us all! Many things are happening and I encourage you to get involved. We have a wonderful Parent Association, led by President, Sally Hawthorne, and all of our parents are members. We would love to have more parents actively engaged in the many projects that the Parent Association puts together for our students and faculty. Please consider attending a meeting to learn more! Our next Parent Association meeting will be on Tuesday, February 5th at 8:15 am in the MPR. The Parent Association meets each month on the first Tuesday at 8:15 am in the MPR. In addition to volunteering for events and projects, these meetings include key members of the Administration at Palm Valley and give parents valuable insights to the school community, the shared vision from the administration, and an opportunity to shape changes and ask questions. I hope that you can join us!
Lastly, our class competition is well underway! Thank you to everyone who has given to the Annual Fund - every gift, large or small, counts! We have a goal this year of reaching 100% family participation and are offering a family ice cream social to all who reach that mark! When our community participates at that level or close to it, we qualify for more grants and increase our ability to make improvements to our programs, campus, and more. We are grateful for your generosity and consideration. Currently, Kindergarten and Grade 10 are in the lead!
