Monday Notes from Head of School, 2/10

"For it is in giving that we receive." - Francis of Assisi

Dear Families,

What an incredible weekend it was! The Secret Garden Gala is now in the books and it was a fantastic evening of community and support for this great school. Thank you to all our sponsors, underwriters, ticket holders, and bidders for your generosity. The Awards and acceptance speeches given from our Outstanding Alumni - Phillip K. Smith III '91, the Faculty Lifetime Achievement Award - Ken Sarkis, and our Gail Gordon Kocen Volunteers of the Year - Cherise Sonderman and Theresa Hall, were inspirational and well-deserved. The graciousness of this community was palpable and everyone in the room felt it on Saturday. A special thanks to the incredible Gala Committee this year that spent hours tirelessly organizing and planning, and even decorating and executing all day Saturday - Eve Fromberg, Mary Fromberg, Lindsay Davis, Michelle Jowitt, Tamara Munoz, Briana Jordan, Kimberley Yang, Tiffany Werner, Abby Sturgeon, Andrea Turner, and Tasha Romo. What an incredible bunch of staff and volunteers who made this year's gala possible. Thank you to everyone who contributed - you have made an incredible impact on our community!

If you have not yet had the opportunity or just want to see what else might be available for bidding to support this year's Gala, our online auction is open for another week. There are hundreds of items there, tickets to purchase for specialty classes being offered, trips and travel, and so much more. All of these are donated items to the school, and every bid and purchase is increasing support for our school needs. Please consider not only going to register and bid today, but sending this link to your friends and family (local or out of state) to bid and win! Most items we will ship or hold for pick-up, so share on your social media pages too! This auction is open to anyone and everyone and there is just one week left!

In addition, we have sent out the enrollment contracts for the 2020-21 school year and you should be receiving those at your home address. Please return your enrollment contracts to the Business Office with your $1000 deposit to reserve space for your child asap, but we expect them back by March 1, 2020. We are enrolling new students every day for the fall and want to ensure that we are staffed appropriately, so your timely response is important. If you are not planning to return next year, please let us know in writing before March 1. If you change your mind about returning, you have until May 1 to notify us in writing that you wish to rescind your contract if you submit one. Lastly, please come in to meet with your Division Head or with me at any time if you have questions about the school or wish to share your experience about why you are or are not returning - we want to hear from you!

Have a great week, Firebirds, and don't forget to bid on the online auction and support our students, faculty, and programs!

Best,

Susan Rice
