"Come on baby, let the good times roll!" - Shirley and Lee

Dear Palm Valley Families,

What a great time we had representing the Palm Valley School at the 55th Annual Golf Cart parade on El Paseo yesterday. We are so lucky to have such dedicated families who came out to support our float and walk in the parade. I am particularly grateful for our Director of Admissions and Marketing, Abby Sturgeon, for Scoutmaster Rufino Cuevas, and for our sponsored Boy Scout Troop 700 for all their efforts to organize our float, make signs, and put this year's theme of "Shake, Rattle, ENroll" into play to represent Palm Valley School at this annual event. Special thanks to those folks for their efforts and support. Our Palm Valley crew was small, but mighty, and a good time was had by all. It was a fun community event!

This morning marked the first planning meeting by the 2020 Gala Committee! Your Gala committee members this year are: Eve Fromberg, Michelle Jowitt, Tamara Munoz, Lindsay Davis, Kimberley Yang, Candace Nelson, Abby Sturgeon, Andrea Turner, and Susan Rice. This year, our gala will be held at the Westin Mission Hills on the evening of Saturday, February 8th. This "Secret Garden" is shaping up to be a lovely, beautiful event that you will not want to miss! We are in the process of securing items for the auction and we need your help! If you have a business or connection that you think might be great for a donation to make our event a success - please contact us at gala@pvs.org  Additionally, we have sold out tickets for this event for the last couple of years and anticipate this year will be no different! Please log on today and secure your ticket or table today!

This week is one of the busiest and most rewarding in the life of any school - Halloween! We are spreading out the costume wear with a spirit day theme all week. In addition, we are celebrating Diwali today and gearing up for Fall festival next weekend. Today, students in their Buddy pairs will learn about the celebration of Diwali and engage in creating Rangoli chalk drawings together around campus. Our Middle and Upper School Advisories are creating their best spooky designs for a Door Decorating contest to be judged on Wednesday after school. On Thursday, our buddies will team up again for the annual Halloween Parade, followed by trick or treating together - we invite all our families to come and see the great costumes (and sport your own) and walk the campus with the buddies as they "Trick or Treat" at all the spooky doors for goodies. Parade starts at 8:30 am in the gym and trick or treating to follow. Come join us!

Our Parents' Association is hard at work planning a great Fall Festival next weekend on the Lower School campus. However, they are looking for a few more volunteers to ensure they are able to offer all the booths and rides that they have planned. Please consider signing up to help if you have not already.

From the Parents Association:
Please join us this Saturday, November 2nd from 3-6 PM. We have so many fun activities planned as well as a variety of food and beverage options and our annual Bake Sale. Admission is free and tickets for all of the activities and food will be available for purchase at the event (cash or credit card). Most of the activities require an adult to supervise and take tickets. We have many 1-hour volunteer shifts that we still need to fill. Please consider signing up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050545ABAA2DAAFC1-pvs2019

Additionally, if you can donate something to our Bake Sale or provide some of the other items that we need for the festival, we would greatly appreciate your contribution: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050545ABAA2DAAFC1-pvs20191

Thank you for all you do and for supporting Palm Valley School in so many ways! Make it a great week, Firebirds!

Warmly,

Susan Rice
