Dear Palm Valley Community,
Happy Sunday!! Hopefully, you all remembered to move your clocks back one hour this morning! Our mornings will now have more light and our evenings will get dark much sooner (in some places they call that winter!).
Much of the recent news has been about the ability of children ages 5 – 11 to now get a COVID vaccine shot. As a school, our stance has not wavered. We are highly encouraging that students in that age range get vaccinated. However, we also recognize that it is a parental decision that best resides with your family. If you are interested in becoming familiar with our COVID policies – especially as they relate to our COVID quarantine procedures for vaccinated vs. unvaccinated students – please feel free to request our Palm Valley COVID Safety Plan that was recently updated following guidance from CDPH and Riverside County Health officials. You can be sent a copy from any Palm Valley School administrator.
I am hoping that all of you were able to take advantage of our Student-Led Conferences last Monday. Those are important opportunities to hear directly from your child’s teachers or advisors regarding their progress.
This Thursday, November 11th, is Veteran’s Day. Is it an important day for all of us to take a moment to reflect upon and thank those among us who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces. Their service, sacrifices, and the considerable sacrifices of their families allow our great nation to continue to enjoy the many freedoms that we do. It seems as though our nation is experiencing a current wave of polarizing political and social perspectives. Thanking our military should be something that all people can agree with and support. Though Palm Valley will be open on Thursday, we will be signifying the specialness of this day with an all-school assembly in the morning. We are also asking you to consider donating to the Wounded Warrior Project click On behalf of a grateful school community….. allow me to extend a heartfelt thank you to those in our community that have served or continue to serve our nation in our armed forces.
Please make plans to join our Palm Valley school community this Saturday, November 13th at our Fall Festival. It is from 1 – 4 pm on our lower school campus. It will be a day of celebration and fun! Many exciting things are planned, including a surprise from Yours Truly!! (You won’t want to miss this opportunity!)
Since my next eblast communication will be after Thanksgiving, I wanted to take the opportunity to wish you all a memorable and safe Thanksgiving Break. (Reminder that there will be no school from Monday, November 22nd – Friday, November 26th) We have so much to be thankful for…. including our close-knit Palm Valley family! Karen and I are grateful to be a part of such a wonderful school community. Enjoy your break from school (I know that our teachers are looking forward to it!). If your plans include traveling over the break, please be safe and observe all COVID rules and restrictions.
