International Students

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Palm Valley School is delighted to welcome international students from all over the world to our school in the beautiful California desert. In fulfilling our Mission to have students that contribute to "our Global Society" and our commitment to Diversity as one of our core values, we believe that the dialogue and relationships that come with hosting International students enriches all of us. We welcome the learning and growth that our international students bring to the Palm Valley School community.

STUDENT AND EXCHANGE VISITOR INFORMATION SYSTEM (SEVIS)
Palm Valley School is registered with SEVIS, the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System and is authorized to issue I-20s to international students so that they may acquire an F-1 Visa. In addition to the regular application for admission, international students must submit a TOEFL score, conduct a Skype interview with a school representative, and submit copies of a passport and bank-verified financial statement.

BEFORE YOU APPLY
Palm Valley School strongly encourages entry into the 9th or 10th grade for international students. Exceptions are made on occasion for well qualified students interested in other grades. Please inquire for more information.

The school partners with The Cambridge Institute of International Education to offer a Academic Support Program designed to meet the needs of secondary-level international students, enabling them to improve their English and academic performance, and improve their chances in applying to top college and universities. The program provides support for students of all levels, including college essay writing for advanced students and test preparation for TOEFL, SAT and/or ACT tests. Whether working one-on-one or in a graded class, the experienced faculty gives students the extra time and attention necessary for academic success and improved prospects for college admission. Ongoing assessment, coordination and communication with subject-specific faculty members ensures timely understanding of students' efforts, while trained staff are at the ready to address the evolving needs of each student. For the highest and lowest performing students, additional subject-specific tutoring is available for a modest hourly rate.
